The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MinTiC) recently issued a statement in which it estimates that by the year 2025, Colombia will face a digital talent gap that will range between 68,000 and 112,000 professionals in software development.
According to the Colombian Society of Engineers, there is a deficit of 80,000 people in this area. For this reason, the implementation of the “Talent in the Cloud” program, which will provide scholarships for training courses in cloud computing.
This initiative arose from the union of Nexa and Amazon Web Services (AWS) and with the collaboration of edtech corporate training Ubits in order to train 20,000 people in cloud computing in Latin America.
The curricula will be offered free of charge and virtually in two stages: "Discover the AWS cloud" and "Cloud Pro Talent". In its initial phase, “Discover the AWS Cloud”, is a five-hour course that provides an introduction to cloud fundamentals. After completion, 1,000 students will be selected to continue with phase two of the "Talent Cloud Pro" program. This phase will provide professional training for people who want to work in the IT sector.
This training will be given starting this month (August) 2023, it will be virtual and will have night classes, this to allow the participation of people who work in other sectors and seek to start a career in the technological field. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive free vouchers to take the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification exam.
Although the alliance will allow 20,000 people to be trained with the largest in the region and in the world of technology to obtain the credibility and training that a professional requires, since it is important to keep up to date with the trending contents of the IT market, always in search to develop the necessary skills to implement, manage and optimize the services that each of the technologies requires.
It was established that the course will be open to anyone interested in learning about cloud computing. While the application requirements are to have completed or be in the third year of high school at a public educational institution and to pass a critical reading and mathematics test.
At the end of the training, the graduates will be connected with companies from the Nexa (Peru) and AWS ecosystem that have job opportunities with this profile, highlighted the CPO of Ubits.
